Dennis Rodman will always be remembered as one of the greatest basketball players of his generation. Did you know he ventured into various other forms of entertainment, though?

Yes, the NBA legend was pretty much a jack of all trades, which kind of makes you wonder: How rich is he? Well, that’s the question I aim to answer today.

I’ll cover Dennis Rodman’s net worth and the income channels he’s pursued throughout the years to show you how rich he is. Let’s get right to it!

What Does Dennis Rodman Do for a Living?

Before delving into Dennis Rodman’s net worth, you need to know what he does for a living.

1. Basketball

If you’re a basketball fan, you already know that Dennis Rodman is one of the biggest names in the history of the NBA. With his aggressive playing style and unmatched rebounding skills, the player dominated every court he stepped on.

After only a few seasons, Rodman established himself as a force not to be reckoned with, and every team wanted him on their side.

He played for the Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs, the Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, and more. The man was a hot commodity.

Throughout 14 seasons, Rodman won five NBA championships and received the NBA Defensive Player Award twice. He also got the NBA All-Defensive First Team honors seven times and was a seven-time NBA rebounding champion.

Why am I covering all that? Because I want to justify why he earned $27 million throughout his basketball career.

Sure, that’s not that high compared to today’s standards, but that was back in the 80s and 90s. That money almost equates to $43 million today. So, Rodman was as successful as it gets.

2. Endorsements

Of course, a player as influential as Dennis Rodman will get lucrative endorsements.

The most notable was the Converse deal. OG NBA fans will remember the player’s iconic Converse AS 91 (named after his Bulls number).

The company even named a few of its sneakers after Rodman, like Converse AS Rodman and Converse AS D-Rod. You can probably tell he got a pretty sweet deal with a hefty payment.

3. Wrestling

Yes, I was as surprised as you are to know that Rodman pursued wrestling after retiring from basketball. It’s a weird career shift.

Apparently, the former NBA player has always been interested in wrestling, so he decided to pursue it professionally after closing the basketball chapter.

In 1997, we saw him teaming up with Hulk Hogan to face Lex Luger and The Giant. Unfortunately, his debut wasn’t that impressive because he lost that match.

One month later, he teamed up with Hogan again to help him win the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. After playing a few more matches, Rodman took a break from wrestling before returning in 1999 and starting a feud with Randy Savage.

In 2000, he joined the i-Generation Superstars of Wrestling, faced the i-Generation champion Curt Hennig, and lost. That was the moment Rod knew he needed to retire.

Although his wrestling career was short, the former NBA player made more money than most people could dream of. I’m talking $1.6 million. That’s not bad, given how his performance was pretty underwhelming.

4. Business Ventures

Dennis Rodman wanted to expand his empire and find other income streams outside athletics. So, in 2013, he launched his own vodka brand called The Original Bad Ass Premium Vodka.

Don’t ask me. I didn’t come up with the title. The brand received nothing but high praise, and Dennis won the San Diego Spirits Festival and the Alberta Beverage awards.

It expanded exponentially throughout North America, which speaks for its financial success.

5. Books

You’d think that the last thing a troublemaker like Dennis Rodman would do is write books, but here we are.

He published his first book, Bad as I Wanna Be, in 1996. Rodman shared his thoughts on death, basketball, fame, and more.

If you want to know more about your favorite rebounder’s personal life, that book is for you.

That was also the start of an eventful career in publishing, as Rodman went on to write five more books. Sure, none of them were a big hit, but they still added a decent amount of money to his wealth.

6. TV Appearances

We’ve all seen this before: An athlete becomes so successful that producers and directors ask them to be in their movies. Rodman’s experience was a bit different, though.

You see, his TV debut wasn’t in a feature film but in a talk show called The Rodman World Tour in 1996. It featured the Hall of Famer meeting and interviewing numerous celebrities.

The following year, he made his feature film debut in Double Team, working with Jean-Claude Van Damme and Mickey Rourke. He also appeared as himself in several TV shows like 3rd Rock from the Sun.

Dennis Rodman’s Fall From Grace

As one of the most iconic NBA players of all time, you might think Rodman is worth millions of dollars. That might have been the case if he had chosen to pursue a quiet life.

However, anyone who knows Rodman knows he likes to host lavish parties, which are quite expensive. He also had a substance abuse issue, and we all know what that does to your bank account.

Besides, the player has faced numerous lawsuits and paid a lot of money in fines. It also didn’t help that his financial advisor scammed him out of millions of dollars.

So, how bad is he doing now? Well, let’s just say Rodman can’t even pay child support because he can barely afford his living expenses.

How Much Is Dennis Rodman’s Net Worth?

Dennis Rodman has a net worth of $500,000. Yes, his extravagant lifestyle and problems with the law have decreased his net worth that much.

Wrapping Up

Dennis Rodman’s net worth is a reflection of all the bad choices he made in his life. He started strong, building a decent fortune from basketball and diversifying his income streams. Eventually, though, he lost it all to parties, drugs, alcohol, and scams.
